Wild at Heart Feather WreathSTEP 1.

Begin wrapping the ribbon around the heart wreath. We used 3 yards total for the larger wreath. This will vary depending on the size of the wreath. When you get to the center of the heart cut the ribbon and glue the end onto the wreath. Repeat this step on the opposite side of the wreath until it’s completely wrapped.

There are several fun & different ways to arrange your feathers. On our larger wreath we glued the feathers down in a tight color coordinated pattern.

On our second smaller wreath we chose to flip the feathers up and glue them down in a loose color coordinated pattern. Using push pins can be handy to help hold your feathers in place as you are assembling.

STEP 2.
Paint the pumpkin. Many types of paint will work, we found spray paint be the easiest. Be sure the painters tape is pressed into all the grooves of the pumpkin before applying paint. Allow paint to dry.

STEP 3.
Trim the feathers, dried wheat stalks, & pussy willows to desired lengths. For a well balanced floral arrangement, we evenly divided this material by cutting long, medium, and short pieces.

STEP 5.
Pick the feathers, dried wheat stalks, & pussy willows. Use medium gage floral wire and cut into 4-5 inch pieces with needle nose wire cutters. Use clear floral tape to wrap around the stems and floral wire. Gather two or three of the wheat stalks along with the floral pick. Use clear floral tape and wrap around the end of the stalks and the top of the pick. Continue this process for the pussy willows and feathers, use desired amount. You will also need two picks 4-5 inch for your feather wreath.

STEP 6.
Place the feather wreath on top of the pumpkin. Use two cut floral picks to press through the wreath and pumpkin to hold wreath in place. Then push the dry wheat picks into the pumpkin, following with pussy willows and pheasant feathers. You might want to add more or less once you see how the arrangement is coming along.
